CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens lower as U.S. shutdown weighs

TORONTO, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened
lower on Thursday as a U.S. government shutdown dragged into a
third day, offsetting positive economic data from China and
weighing on most major sectors.
    The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index
 was down 16.70 points, or 0.13 percent, at 12,822.30
shortly after the open.
