TORONTO, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened
higher on Thursday after data showed a drop in the number of
U.S. jobless claims last week, helping offset declines in mining
shares.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index
was up 18.88 points, or 0.14 percent, at 13,633.51
shortly after the open.
