CANADA STOCKS-TSX rises to a 9-month high led by resource stocks
TORONTO May 26 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index rose to a fresh nine-month high on Thursday as resource stocks rallied after oil breached $50 a barrel, while financials also advanced as investors digested quarterly earnings from some of the country's major banks.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index was up 56.37 points, or 0.40 percent, at 14,110.11, shortly after the open. Eight of the index's 10 main groups were higher. (Reporting by Fergal Smith)
