FUTURES TICK UP AHEAD OF CLAIMS, PRICES DATA

U.S. stock index futures edged higher on Thursday, ahead of labor and producer prices data, as the market struggled to make further advances after the Dow industrials closed up for a ninth straight session a day earlier.

S&P 500 futures rose 3 points, Dow Jones industrial average futures rose 18 points, and Nasdaq 100 futures added 5 points.

** AMEREN CORP, Wednesday close $34, up 5 pct premarket

The utility company said it would sell Ameren Energy Resources Co, its merchant generation business, to Dynegy Inc , and will focus on its rate-regulated electric, natural gas and transmission operations.

Benefits from the divestiture for Ameren are estimated to be about $900 million, the company said in a statement.
