U.S. stocks fell on Wednesday, weighed by a slew of economic data that suggested weaker-than-expected growth. The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 0.40 percent, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 0.47 percent, and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.56 percent.
