S&P 500 futures rose 4 points, Dow Jones industrial average futures gained 35 points and Nasdaq 100 futures added 12.75 points.

** BLACKBERRY LTD, Friday close $7.77, down 20 pct premarket

The company is abandoning a plan to sell itself and instead will replace its chief executive officer and raise about $1 billion from institutional investors, including its largest shareholder.

** TRI POINTE HOMES INC, Friday close $15.38, up 4 pct premarket

Weyerhaeuser Co is selling its homebuilding division to the company in a $2.7 billion deal that will leave Weyerhaeuser shareholders in control of one of the 10 largest homebuilders in the United States.

** CANADIAN SOLAR INC, Friday close $25.56, up 5.6 pct premarket

The Chinese solar panel maker said it expects to report a net profit for the third quarter due to strength in its power plants business. The company, which has reported a loss for eight consecutive quarters, expects to ship 460-480 megawatt (MW) in the third quarter, higher than its prior forecast of 410-430 MW. The company also raised its gross margin outlook to 18-20 percent from 10-12 percent.

** RYANAIR HOLDINGS PLC, Friday close $50.43, down 12.5 pct premarket

The airline's annual profit is set to fall for the first time in five years as intense competition in Europe pushes average fares down by around 10 percent over the winter months, Europe's largest airline by passenger numbers said.

** MORGANS HOTEL GROUP CO, Friday close $7.09, up 9 pct premarket

The owner of hotels such as Sanderson, Morgans and Shore Club said late on Friday it had received an unsolicited proposal from The Yucaipa Companies LLC to acquire the company for $8 per share.

** ANAREN INC, Friday close $24.91, up 11.4 pct premarket

The telecom components maker said it would be acquired by Veritas Capital Fund IV for about $381 million.

** KELLOGG CO, Friday close $62.29, up 1.5 pct premarket

The company reported a 3 percent rise in quarterly profit, helped by a fall in cereal-making costs, and said it would slash 7 percent of its workforce by 2017.

** SOLARCITY CORP, Friday close $54.75, up 4 pct premarket

The solar panel installer said its unit SolarCity LMC Series I LLC will offer solar assest-backed notes worth $54.4 million in a private placement.

** ZOGENIX INC, Friday close $2.92, down 9 pct premarket

The pharmaceutical company reported a larger-than-expected loss in the third quarter hurt by a fall in net product revenue.

The company also said it would offer $60 million shares, saying it intended to use part of the net proceeds to market its recently approved painkiller Zohydro.

** ACHILLION PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Friday close $2.53, up 5 pct premarket

Charter Communications Inc is weighing a bid for Time Warner Cable Inc before year-end and is trying to devise a deal structure that would lure the No. 2 U.S. cable operator's shareholders, people familiar with the matter said. The company, which earlier this week indicated that it was open to a deal at the right price, has a market value of more than $34 billion, compared with Charter's market value of about $13 billion.

The company is considering the sale of its holdings in oil and gas projects in China in a deal that could be valued at about $1 billion, sources familiar with the matter said, as it eyes ploughing money back into the U.S. market.

** BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC, Friday close $115.27

Warren Buffett's company posted a 29 percent jump in third-quarter profit as it recorded big gains on investments made during the financial crisis, but operating results missed forecasts amid weakness in insurance operations.

** DAQO NEW ENERGY CORP, Friday close $31.37, up 0.4 pct premarket

The Chinese polysilicon manufacturer said it expects to ship 1,200-1,275 metric tons (MT) of polysilicon in the third quarter, higher than its prior forecast of 1,000 MT. However, the company cut its wafer shipment to 7.4 million-7.5 million pieces from 8.9 million pieces, citing shipment delays.

The company also said it expects to ship 6.5-6.6 MT of multi-crystal silicon ingots blocks, lower than its earlier outlook of 6.8 MT.

** PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC CO, Friday close $29.51, down 3 pct after market

The Oregon power company lowered its full-year profit forecast mainly due to costs related to the outage at its Coyote Springs natural gas-fired plant, which represents about 9 percent of the company's total net generating capacity. It cut its profit forecast to $1.20-$1.30 per share from $1.25-$1.40.

Portland General said in September that the plant, located in Boardman, Oregon, had been out of service since August 24 due to equipment failures, and estimated repair costs of about $2 million. The plan is expected to be functional by mid-November.

** SUNTECH POWER, Friday close $1.32, up 2 pct premarket
