The Dow Jones industrial average was down 5.57 points or 0.03 percent at 16,669.93, the S&P 500 was up 0.73 points or 0.04 percent at 1,912.64 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.46 points or 0.01 percent at 4,237.53.

Analysts at Guggenheim Securities raised their price target on the largest U.S. independent oil and gas company's stock to $90 from $82. The raise is due to higher net asset value, with increases in U.S. Onshore and Deepwater Exploration, and higher earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, depletion, amortization and exploration expenses.

Aspen Investment Fund, a shareholder of the obesity drug maker, said it was planning to offer to buy the company for $640 million.
