U.S. stock index futures were inching higher on Friday after major indexes suffered their biggest drop since July, ahead of data on economic growth and consumer optimism.
Dow Jones industrial average futures were up 0.04 percent at 16,907, S&P 500 futures were down 0.17 percent at 1,958.25 and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.01 percent at 4,008.

Bill Gross, one of the bond market's most renowned investors, is leaving Pimco, the asset management firm he founded, for rival asset management firm Janus Capital.
