** Shares of small biotech and medical equipment companies rise following news that a nurse had become the first person to contract the deadly Ebola virus in the United States

** Biotechnology company Ibio Inc's shares soar 84 pct to touch three-year high; Ebola drugmaker Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corp's U.S.-listed shares rise 6.6 pct to $24.30

** Face mask maker Alpha Pro Tech Ltd rises as much as 20 pct to touch record high of $8.94; hazmat suits maker Lakeland Industries Inc rises 14 pct to ten-year high of $22.44

** Medical waste management company Sharps Compliance Corp jumps 40.5 pct to record high of $6.80 and medical test maker Chembio Diagnostics Inc rises as much as 18 pct to year-high of $4.66

** Up to Friday's close, U.S.-listed shares of Tekmira had risen 8 pct since news of Duncan's infection was released on Sept. 30

** Shares of Lakeland nearly tripled and Alpha Pro, Ibio, more than doubled in the same period

** Chembio shares had risen 8 pct in these nine trading days, while Sharps climbed 10 pct
