U.S. stock indexes rose slightly on Monday. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.13 percent at 17,596.85, the S&P 500 was up 0.20 percent at 2,035.99 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.20 percent at 4,641.697.

Shares of the Chinese online retailers rose ahead of "Singles Day" on Tuesday, when they offer heavy discounts. Alibaba shares hit their record high of $117.43.
"Singles Day" is now the largest day of online sales in the world. Last year, Alibaba said it processed 254 million orders worth $5.8 billion on the day, according to Financial Times (on.ft.com/144gQUI)
