U.S. stock index futures were slightly down on Monday after data showed that China's economic growth slipped below 7 percent for the first time since the global financial crisis and Morgan Stanley reported a slump in quarterly profit. Dow Jones industrial average futures were down 0.30 percent at 17,064, S&P 500 futures were down 0.31 percent at 2,019.25 and Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.30 percent at 4,421.25.

The Wall Street bank's profit slumped for the second straight quarter as investors fled the bond, currency and commodity markets amid uncertainty about the timing of a U.S. interest rate hike and concerns about China's cooling economy.
