** Shares of oil and gas producers and related companies up as Brent rises for 1st time in 6 days and West Texas Intermediate up for 2nd straight day

** Oil prices rise on Wednesday, underpinned by unexpected fall in U.S. crude inventories, but still close to multi-year lows as supplies remain abundant and OPEC lowers demand outlook for its exports

** Brent crude up 2.5 pct at $36.98/bbl, U.S. crude up 2.7 pct at $37.11/bbl at 10:20 a.m. ET

** Chevron Corp up 2.3 pct and Exxon Mobil Corp up 1.5 pct, among top gainers on Dow Jones industrial average
