** Shares of oil, gas and related companies down as Brent hovers around its 11-year low

** Oil falls to around $37/barrel, pressured by excess supply that has led to prices more than halving since the downturn began in mid-2014

** Brent crude down 3.4 pct at $36.59/bbl, U.S. crude down 1.3 pct at $36.75/bbl at 10:05 a.m. ET

** Big exploration and production companies: ConocoPhillips down 3 pct, Chevron Corp down 2.4 pct, Exxon Mobil Corp down 1.3 pct

** BP Plc down 1.6 pct, Royal Dutch Shell Plc down 1.5 pct, Total S.A. down 1.4 pct

** Oilfield service providers: Oil States International Inc down 4.3 pct, Pioneer Energy Services Corp down 4.5 pct, Seventy-Seven Energy Inc down 3.3 pct

** Contract drillers: Parker Drilling Co down 5.6 pct, Seadrill Partners LLC down 5.4 pct, Ensco Plc down 3.9 pct
