Dow Jones industrial average futures were up 0.72 percent at 17,563, S&P 500 futures were up 0.66 percent at 2,062.25 and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.66 percent at 4,644.

The medical technology company said it launched a nerve conduction test, used to evaluate systemic neuropathies such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), in Mexico. DPN is long-term complication of diabetes.

The U.S. auto parts retailer said its board determined activist investor Carl Icahn's latest buyout offer was superior to the deal it accepted from Bridgestone Corp. Icahn raised his offer to value the company at about $1 billion.
