The Dow Jones industrial average was down 0.62 percent, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 0.46 percent and the Nasdaq Composite Index was down 0.32 percent.
** BLACKBERRY LTD, $8.03, up 1.4 pct (1:24 p.m. ET)
The smartphone maker has drawn interest from private equity group Cerberus and at least one other investor, CNBC said on Wednesday, quoting Dow Jones, which cited unnamed sources. Shares of BlackBerry jumped as much as 2.5 percent on the Nasdaq as the news hit.
The Waterloo-based company may sell some of its real estate to raise money, the Globe and Mail newspaper reported earlier on Wednesday.
** BURLINGTON STORES INC, $24.7, up 45 pct (01:16 p.m. ET)
Shares of the discount retailer rose as much as 39 percent in their market debut, valuing the Bain Capital-backed company at about $1.69 billion.
