** Oil slipped below $49 a barrel after the U.S. Energy Information Administration said U.S. crude stocks rose by 8.9 mln barrels last week to 406.73 mln, the highest since records began in 1982

** Brent crude for March delivery down $0.52 at $49.36/barrel by 1606 GMT; U.S. crude for March fell to $45.40
