U.S. stocks little changed on Monday, on the heels of the S&P 500's best month in more than three years, as data showed consumer spending remained soft in January and ahead of a report on the manufacturing sector. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.49 percent at 18,220.84, the S&P 500 was up 0.29 percent at 2,110.53 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.59 percent at 4,992.9.

The hardwood flooring retailer's shares halted after they fell about 24 percent in premarket trading. The company sold flooring with higher levels of formaldehyde than permitted under California's health and safety standards, according to television news program "60 Minutes".
