(Updates Canada and U.S. economic data)

March 13 (Reuters) - Stock futures for Canada's main stock index declined further on Friday, following data that unemployment rate rose higher-than-expected in February.

March futures on the S&P TSX index dipped further into the red, down 0.23 percent at 8:40 a.m. ET from 0.15 percent at 7:15 a.m. ET.

Unemployment rate rose to 6.8 percent in February as more people went looking for work, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

Canada's main stock index ended higher on Thursday, as a rise in copper prices supported shares of some mining companies, offsetting a decline in the energy sector.

Dow Jones Industrial Average e-mini futures were down 0.14 percent at 8:40 a.m. ET, S&P 500 e-mini futures were down 0.10 percent and Nasdaq 100 e-mini futures were down 0.02 percent.
