** U.S. listed shares of oil and gas companies up 3-15 pct

** Oil rises as oversold conditions bring some buyers back to the market

** Brent rises as much as 4.2 pct to $44.50/barrel, after hitting $42.23 on Monday, its lowest since March 2009

** U.S. crude rises as much as 4.3 pct to $39.89, also advancing from $37.75, its lowest since February 2009 set in the previous session

** Oil and gas producers: Exxon Mobil Corp up 2.9 pct, North American Energy Partners Inc up 15 pct, Swift Energy Co up 10 pct, Denbury Resources Inc up 5.9 pct

** Oilfield services companies: Halliburton Co up 3 pct, Baker Hughes Inc up 5.9 pct, National-Oilwell Varco Inc up 2.5 pct

** Contract drillers: Transocean Ltd up 3.5 pct, Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc up 5.5 pct
