OTTAWA (Reuters) - Ottawa police are investigating what they say appears to be a human foot that was sent on Tuesday to the headquarters of the governing federal Conservative Party.
Police said they found possible blood stains on the suspicious package, and they called in the hazardous materials team.
"Upon further inspection of the package it was determined that there was possibly a human foot in the box," police said, adding that the major crimes section had now taken over.
The Ottawa Citizen quoted police Sgt. Bruce Pirt as saying the crimes unit was involved because if it is a human foot, "There's a body without one."
There was no indication as to motive.
