Canada's entry into TPP talks could come Tuesday: sources
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An announcement that Canada has been formally invited by the United States and eight other countries into an Asia-Pacific regional free trade pact could come as early as Tuesday, U.S. sources closely following the discussions said.
One source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said an announcement was expected Tuesday afternoon.
A second source said Canada and the current members of the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks have been working to get an agreement, but the timing of an announcement was still uncertain.
Mexico was invited into the TOP talks on Monday, raising expectations that Canada would also formally be asked in.
The White House and the U.S. Trade Representative's office did not respond to emailed queries on the issue. (Reporting By Doug Palmer; Editing by David Brunnstrom)
