Saskatchewan canola swathing underway, most hay cut
(Reuters) - Farmers in Saskatchewan have begun to swath canola, while harvesting is underway of winter crops and early-developing spring-seeded crops, the government of the Western Canadian province said on Thursday in a weekly report.
* 2 percent of canola and 5 percent of mustard swathed as of August 6, while farmers have harvested 28 percent of winter wheat, 23 percent of fall rye, 6 percent of peas, 3 percent of lentils and 1 percent of mustard.
* Farmers have cut 92 percent of the hay crop and baled or put in to silage 81 percent. 83 percent of the hay crop is rated good to excellent.
* Severe hail storms and heavy rain reported in some regions.
