TORONTO (Reuters) - A Canadian soldier died in Afghanistan this weekend, the second fatality in less than a week and the 11th so far this year, newspapers reported on Sunday.

Capt. Jonathan Sutherland Snyder of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry died on Saturday while on night patrol in the Zhari district, southwest of Kandahar, the Globe and Mail newspaper said on its Web site.

Canada has 2,500 troops in Kandahar on a mission due to end in 2011.

On Tuesday, a Canadian captain died after his foot patrol was ambushed in the Panjwai district.

Since Ottawa sent troops to Afghanistan in late 2002, 85 soldiers and one diplomat have been killed.
