TORONTO (Reuters) - The son of jailed media mogul Conrad Black faced several charges after an alleged hit-and-run accident in downtown Toronto last week, police said on Sunday.
Jonathan David Black, 30, was charged with failing to stop after an accident, careless driving, driving while under suspension and driving without insurance, the Toronto police said in a statement.
"It is alleged that the collision involved an Infiniti motor vehicle running into the back of a stopped vehicle," the statement said. "The driver of the Infiniti backed up, and then left the scene."
Black will appear in court in Toronto on April 28, police said.
Conrad Black, former head of a media empire that once included The Jerusalem Post and The Daily Telegraph in Britain, began serving a 6-1/2 year prison sentence in Florida this month after he was convicted of obstructing justice and defrauding shareholders.
The Canadian-born publisher, a member of Britain's House of Lords, is appealing the convictions.
