BEIJING (Reuters) - Fifteen-year-old Chen Ruolin won the women's platform final on Thursday and brought China to the brink of the first sweep of Olympic diving titles in more than half a century.

Chen prevailed in a desperately close duel with Canada's Emilie Heymans to give China their seventh Beijing diving title, with one event to come.

Chen overhauled Heymans with the last dive of the night to win gold with 447.70 points from her five final dives. Heymans claimed silver with 437.05 and world champion Wang Xin of China bronze with 429.90.

The men's platform final brings the eight-event Beijing diving program to an end on Saturday. The United States completed their last Olympic diving sweep in 1952.
