Canada budget officer sees steep 2009 job losses
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada will shed far more jobs in 2009 than the government predicted in its late January budget, Canada's independent parliamentary budget officer said on Wednesday.
"Employment, which in the budget forecast was down about 0.5 percent in 2009, now we're looking at down about 2 percent on a year-to-year basis in 2009," Kevin Page told the House of Commons finance committee.
