Liberals increase poll lead
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada's opposition Liberals are ahead of the ruling Conservatives and have enough support to give them a chance of winning a minority government, according to a new poll released on Tuesday.
The Harris-Decima survey for Canadian Press put the Liberals at 34 percent support, up two points from a poll carried out last month by the same firm. The Conservatives stayed at 29 percent.
The poll was the third in the last few days to show the Liberals ahead of the Conservatives, who opposition parties say are mishandling the economic crisis.
The Conservatives have a minority government and can be brought down if all three opposition parties vote together on a confidence vote in Parliament.
Canadian Press said the survey of more than 2,000 people was conducted from April 23 to May 3 and is considered accurate to within 2.2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
