OTTAWA (Reuters) - A Canadian soldier was killed by a bomb blast while on foot patrol in southern Afghanistan on Monday, military officials said. He was the 119th member of Canada’s armed forces to die in Afghanistan.

Officials named the dead man as 20-year-old Private Alexandre Peloquin. Canada has about 2,700 soldiers based in the southern city of Kandahar on a mission that is due to end in 2011.
