Canada new home prices rise in July unexpectedly

(Reuters) - The price of new homes in Canada rose unexpectedly in July for the first time since September 2008, climbing 0.3 percent from June, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

Compared with a year earlier, prices were down 3.2 percent.

NOTE: The median forecast of analysts surveyed by Reuters was for a decline of 0.1 percent in new housing prices in July.
