OTTAWA (Reuters) -G7 finance ministers and central bank chiefs meeting in Istanbul on Saturday will try to figure out how to put into practice the commitments endorsed by the G20 leaders last month, a senior Canadian finance official said on Thursday.
The official would not speculate on whether the G7 group would issue a final communique, saying finance ministers and governors would make a decision at the meeting. Nor would he say whether Canada favors a statement on currencies at the end of the meeting.
It is very important to make adjustments to global imbalances very gradually, he said, adding that the G7 policymakers had a responsibility to flesh out how this will work in practice.
