VICTORIA, British Columbia (Reuters) - Finance Minister Jim Flaherty criticized on Monday German reluctance to put more resources into containing the euro area debt crisis unless countries outside the euro zone do so as well.

"This is a problem. Germany's a relatively wealthy country. So is France, so are most of the European countries. They need to look to themselves first to solve their fiscal crisis. So we're waiting for them to make that kind of commitment, and other countries are as well," Flaherty told reporters before heading into a meeting with the finance ministers of Canada's provinces.

Germany's Bundesbank said last week it would only contribute further resources to the International Monetary Fund as part of a solution to the European debt crisis if non-euro zone and non-European countries did too.
