TORONTO (Reuters) - Rogers Communications Inc is launching two ethnic television stations in the oil-rich western province of Alberta, a move it says reflects the increasingly diverse population of the region.
OMNI Calgary and OMNI Edmonton will launch on September 15, Toronto-based Rogers said. The firm, one of Canada's biggest cable companies, already offers ethnic programming through other OMNI stations in large markets including Toronto.
The two Alberta stations will have different news teams and will feature three locally produced newscasts each weekday.
