Over third of population watched Canada v U.S.
VANCOUVER (Reuters) - Canada's men's Olympic ice hockey group match against the United States on Sunday became the most-watched sports program in Canadian history with 10.6 million viewers, official Games broadcaster CTV said on Monday.
Canada fell 5-3 to the United States at the Vancouver Olympics with as many as 10.6 million viewers watching the grudge game and with a peak viewership of 13 million at some point during the game.
The previous record stood at 10.3 million viewers who watched Canada down the United States to clinch the gold medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
The Canadian population is around 34 million.
