LOS ANGELES (Reuters Life!) - MTV's hit reality show "The Hills", about the lives of young women trying to find themselves in Los Angeles, is ending this year after its sixth season, the cable channel said on Thursday.

"The Hills", which made celebrity magazine stars out of Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, will begin its final season on April 27.

"We are lucky and honored to have worked with this cast and tell their stories for this long, and we are grateful to the many dedicated fans who have stuck with us over the years," MTV's head of programing Tony DiSanto said.

Creator Adam DiVello told Entertainment Weekly that the first episode of the final season will focus on the extensive plastic surgery undergone by Montag.

Montag, 23, made tabloid headlines in January after undergoing 10 procedures in one day including breast augmentation, a nose job, a new chin, buttock augmentation and liposuction.

"We tell the whole story. We pick right up where Heidi goes and sees her parents. And our cameras are there that minute the mother opens the door and sees her daughter for the first time," DiVello said.

Conrad, her fashion magazine intern friend Whitney Port, and several of the other original stars have already left the show which started in 2006 and quickly became MTV's biggest hit. But U.S. audiences have fallen in the past two years by about 30 percent.
