LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The fourth installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean" has just hooked a mermaid in the form of French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey.

Tackling her first English-speaking role, the Paris-based performer, born to French-American and Catalan parents, will play a fish-tailed beauty in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall said Wednesday.

The film, in which Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, begins shooting in June in Hawaii, Britain and Los Angeles. It's slated for a May 20, 2011, release.

Berges-Frisbey has appeared in such French films as "La Fille du Puisatier," "Bruc," "Extase," "La Premiere Etoile" and "Un Barrage Contre le Pacifique." She has also appeared onstage at the Theater Marigny in a production of Peter Shaffer's "Equus."
