Export sales boost Hydro-Quebec profit

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Income from export sales of electricity allowed Hydro-Quebec to more than double its net income in the third quarter, the provincially owned utility said on Friday.

The company said it had a profit of C$491 million ($402 million) in the period ended September 30, compared with a profit of C$217 million in the same period a year ago.

The latest results were boosted by a C$396 million increase in net electricity exports by Hydro-Quebec Production.
