LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Adam Brody is in talks to join the cast of "The Oranges," an indie comedy-drama starring Hugh Laurie as a man who has an affair with the daughter of a family friend.

Meester ("Gossip Girl") plays the daughter. Their affair turns their lives, and the lives of their families, upside down.

Brody will play Laurie's son, who falls for Meester but is shocked to learn she's having a torrid affair with his dad. The veteran of "The O.C." is currently in theaters with "Cop Out."

Also on board are Alia Shawkat ("Whip It!") as Brody's sister, Catherine Keener ("Percy Jackson & the Olympians") as their mother, and Janney ("The West Wing") as Meester's mom.

The long-gestating picture, which finally secured financing, will begin shooting March 30 in New York. Julian Farino is directing from a script by Ian Helfer and Jay Reiss.
