NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - A 20-pound lobster believed to be 140 years old will be released back into the sea by a Japanese restaurant that had a change of heart.
Halu Japanese Restaurant & Grill in Brooklyn, New York had planned to keep the lobster, they nicknamed "Craig", in a tank on display. But inspired by last month's release of similar-sized crustacean by another New York restaurant, Halu decided to release him instead.
Craig is to be driven up to Maine where he will be released into the Atlantic, the group People for Ethical Treatment of Animals said.
The "lobster liberation" is due to take place on Saturday at Kennebunkport, Maine, PETA spokesperson Ashley Byrne said.
