LONDON (Reuters Life!) - A man accused of attacking British pop star Leona Lewis as she signed books in London earlier this month is not fit to attend court, British media reported on Monday.
Peter Kowalczyk, 29, was charged with striking the 2006 "X Factor" winner, and a hearing at the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court heard he had been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and was being examined by psychiatrists.
After a brief hearing, the case was adjourned until November 23. Kowalczyk, who did not appear in the dock, remained in secure accommodation at Lambeth Hospital in south London, reports said.
Lewis, whose debut album "Spirit" has sold more than 6.5 million copies worldwide, was shaken by the incident but did not need hospital treatment.
