NEW YORK (Reuters) - Actress and former model Candice Bergen is publishing a second memoir, 23 years after her first, publishers Simon and Schuster announced on Thursday.

Bergen, 64, whose career began on Groucho Marx's "You Bet Your Life" quiz show at age eleven, is best known for her Emmy-award winning role as a tough single mom and TV reporter on the comedy "Murphy Brown".

Her first memoir, entitled "Knock Wood", was released in 1984, before "Murphy Brown" began its 10-year run on television.

A sequel has been in the works since 1987, but has been delayed to her work on television and film, including a stint as a lawyer on "Boston Legal".

"Some authors are worth waiting for, even if you have to wait for two decades, and Candice Bergen is one of them," Simon and Schuster executive vice president Jonathan Karp said in a statement.

Priscilla Painton, the executive editor at Simon and Schuster, said that "Candy has proven with her first book she is a natural story teller -- funny and honest on the page. I look forward to publishing the second part of her rich life story."

Bergen's recent movie outings include the romantic comedies "Sex and the City", "Bride Wars" and "The Romantics".
