Willem Dafoe to present at Samsung Mobile AFI awards
SYDNEY (Reuters Life!) - Willem Dafoe, star of films such as "Platoon" and the "Spider-Man" trilogy, is set to be a presenter at the Samsung Mobile AFI Awards, Australia's longest-running film and television awards, at the weekend.
Dafoe will be joined by Shane Jacobson, star of the motoring television series "Top Gear Australia," who will host the two-night event that starts in Melbourne on Friday, the Australian Film Institute said.
Among the nominees for the top prize, the Samsung Mobile AFI Award for Best Film, are "Animal Kingdom," a film written and directed by David Michod about the battle between an Australian crime family and the police, and "Beneath Hill 60," a World War I war film directed by Jeremy Sims and written by David Roach.
A total of 48 awards are set to be presented in the feature film, non-feature film and television categories.
