LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Boozy comedy "The Hangover Part II" was Britain's most popular film over the weekend, netting a hefty 10.4 million pounds ($17.12 million) on its debut, according to Screen International on Wednesday.
The sequel to the 2009 hit, which reunites actors Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha in another mayhem-filled bachelor party, only narrowly failed to match last week's opening take of 11.6 million pounds racked up by the latest Pirates of the Caribbean blockbuster.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" was down in second place, with "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2" coming in at three.
Former chart-topper "Thor" slipped a place to four, just above "Fast and Furious 5" which was down in fifth place from second.
The animated macaws of "Rio" regained a place to six while horror movie "Insidious" fell three spots to seventh.
Ruthless 16-year-old assassin "Hanna" was down two at eight.
Teen gang movie "Attack the Block" slipped four places to ninth and "Water for Elephants" with Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon in a traveling circus fell two spots to 10th.
