Wounded wild boar kills German hunter
BERLIN (Reuters Life!) - A wild boar shot by a German hunter near Berlin turned on the 72-year old and bit him to death, police said on Friday.
Police in Linthe, south of the German capital, said the man was attacked after he approached the swine believing he had shot it dead.
The beast leapt up and attacked. Its teeth punctured a major artery in the pensioner's leg, causing massive blood loss, his hunting colleague told German newspaper Bild.
A study by the Hanover-based Institute of Wildlife Research released last week said wild boars were breeding at a rapid rate in Germany and wreaking havoc, by destroying crops, killing pets and attacking people.
