CANBERRA (Reuters Life!) - A drunken Australian undertaker who stalked a woman from his hearse, honking and making threats, was banned from driving for two years on Thursday.
Magistrate Christine Haskett said undertaker Adam Lee had a history of depression and drinking, but the woman he stalked had "grave fears for her safety," Australian Associated Press reported.
The incident happened in December 2004, and Lee earlier this year was found guilty of driving while disqualified, drink driving, driving in a menacing manner and not obeying police instructions.
Lee's lawyers said the incident was a cry for help from a binge drinker who was suffering depression, but Hasket refused to dismiss the charges on the grounds of mental illness.
She banned Lee from driving for two years, put him on an 18-month good behavior bond and ordered he undergo counseling.
