LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Sylvester Stallone's latest mercenary action movie topped the British box office after its opening weekend, ending the month-long reign of Toy Story.
Stallone directed and starred in "The Expendables," the story of a ruthless group hired to overthrow a Latin American dictator, which took 3.9 million pounds ($6 million), according to Screen International Tuesday.
Angelina Jolie took second spot on her UK debut as a CIA agent in "Salt" with "Toy Story 3" falling to third place.
Horror movie "Piranha 3D" was new at four with prehistoric killer fish wreaking havoc during Spring Break, while another newcomer, family dog caper "Marmaduke," came in at five.
Sci-fi thriller "Inception," with Leonardo DiCaprio, slipped four places to six, just above action comedy "Knight and Day," starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, which was down at seven from four.
"The Last Airbender" was down five places at eight while Dance movie "Step Up 3D" fell three spots to nine.
Nicolas Cage and Monica Bellucci in a story of magic in Manhattan, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," was down at 10 from five.
