BOSTON (Reuters Life!) - Next time you need to make a change consider a temporary fix rather than a potentially long-lived solution, says Harvard Business Review.

"When looking to make a change, reorganize your unit, or develop a new system, people often seek out solutions that will last as long as possible. They want them to be sustainable, after all.

But nothing lasts forever. Finding a permanent solution may be infeasible and even foolhardy. Next time you need to make a big change, come up with a temporary -- not a final one.

Most approaches are useful for a certain amount of time. When that time's over, you need a new way to attack the problem, since it's likely to morph."
