NEW YORK (Reuters) - Los Angeles Clippers guard Ricky Davis was suspended by the NBA for five games on Monday for violating the terms of the league's anti-drug program.

No details of the incident were disclosed by the NBA in a statement.

Davis's suspension will start on Tuesday when the Clippers travel to the Sacramento Kings. He will be eligible to return at San Antonio on January 8.

Signed as an unrestricted free agent from the Miami Heat, Davis is averaging 4.3 points from 13 games in his first season with the Clippers.

The 29-year-old, who has not played since November 19 because of an inflamed tendon in his left knee, has a career average of 14.1 points from 677 games.
