Penalty gives Honduras quarter-final win over Canada
PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - A controversial penalty gave Honduras a 1-0 win over Canada and a place in the semi-finals of the Gold Cup on Saturday.
Honduras will face the winners of the later quarter-final between holders United States and Central American champions Panama.
The penalty came in the 36th minute when Paul Stalteri was judged to have fouled Walter - a decision protested by the Canadian team.
Canada piled on the pressure in the second half in their search for an equalizer and they came desperately close five minutes from the end when a header from Kevin McKenna struck the post and Ali Gerba blasted the rebound high and wide.
