Lewis to call Redskins' offensive plays
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Newly hired offensive consultant Sherman Lewis will now call the plays for the slumping Washington Redskins, a team spokesman said on Monday.
With the Redskins struggling offensively and bottom of the NFC East with a 2-4 record, executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato told head coach Jim Zorn late on Sunday that he would no longer be calling the plays.
Washington brought Lewis out of retirement two weeks ago to help Zorn run the offense. The Redskins, who lost to the previously winless Kansas City Chiefs 14-6 on Sunday, are averaging 13.2 points a game this season.
