Canada retail sales rise 0.1 percent in April, miss forecasts

(Reuters) - Canadian retail sales in April inched up 0.1 per cent from March as a decline in gas station receipts offset gains at motor vehicle dealers, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

Higher sales were reported in six of 11 subsectors, representing 51 percent of total retail sales. In volume terms, retail sales increased by 0.5 percent.
